Howard continues to improve a bit each day and his appetite, though not quite what we would like it to be, is better some days than others. Still he tries really hard to eat the necessary foods to "fatten himself up a bit," he says, though one of his major concerns throughout this experience has been the loss of his muscle tone (something he had worked very hard for throughout the years. The amazing feats he has performed are testament to his strength.) His urgency to heal and regain strength keeps all of us around him continually trying to be creative in providing the highest calorie, best food content items possible for his nourishment. (Hey ,All of you creative friends out there should feel free to send us your ideas for putting on weight.. recipes so welcomed. Conner, you could even ask your friend, Paula Dean and boys for ideas!!!!!!)) This is, admittedly, quite a new challenge these days when most everyone is so weight conscious...in the opposite direction. We had a little celebration after our last visit to Dr. Hendrick's office upon seeing the scale up 2lbs.2oz. We hope this will have doubled by the time we visit there again. This seems slowly happening in view of a thirty five pound loss for the Knight who never had a weight problem to consider.
Here's to sweet dreams and sleep filled nights for our Knight....and all you dear ones out there..
We are working now on a new story, from an earlier time, in relation to appetite and food...and sources. Coming soon to a computer near you, Loved and Loving Ones. Steady in the Boat!!!!!!!!!

ReplyDeleteO. M. G.!!!(Oh My Gaaah!!) Boogity Boogity Boogity Boys, Let's Go Racing! Or Zoom Zoom, as Paul puts it. Jeffie came home a few weeks ago and said to me, "Have I got something for you. You're gonna go crazy!" He got tickets to the Atlanta Motor Speedway NASCAR. One of my very favorite sports aside from football that I learned to love from my daddy. Let me just say this once and get it off my chest; Daddy, I was just crushed to not be able to call you and say, "Pack your day bag Daddy, we're going to see Tony Stewart race and might get to get his autograph." I wanted to but didnt make a big deal about it because I felt guilty to not include you this time. We discussed it and thought it would be too much and I did not want to cause you any grief about missing something... So let me just say too that I enjoyed it for the both of us. The excitement was so much and I took off my shoes to feel the rumble under my feet on the bleachers. The first crank of the motors was orgasmic!!! I have a new appreciation for the TV now as it is so loud that you cant talk to the ones next to you but I made sure to lean over and kiss Jeffie often to say thanks. We took a hundred+ pictures and I wrote, "The Meitz '09 Go 20 and 14" on the black and white tiles ON Vistory Lane. There were 4 SMOKE wrecks; one right in front of our seats which were right across from the pit lane. I got pictures with an Official and One under the GATE 13 Just for Momma and Daddy as that is their favorite number. There is nothing like this experience and I will never forget it. Daddy, you remeber going to Darlington. Well, this was shared with you in every way. I ate a hamburger and lots of ice. We never thought about getting sunburned, but we left looking like we had been in Panama for a week. Unreal. We stood on the grass where they spin out after a win, and I pulled a few pieces up for my scrapbookin'. I also got a piece of the Home Depot car from the grass, stuck it in my pocket. Jeffie said to stop picking up trash on the ground and look up and around. But then I wouldn't have that piece... I kept saying its all about the scrapbookin' as I want everyone I know to feel what I did Sunday at the races and that page in the scrapbook will be forever as will my memories. Oh, I am just beside myself with awe. Fast. Fast. Fast. The engines sounded like a hundred freight trains going round and round my ears. I loved every minute of it. Thank you daddy for my love of sports. You're the BEST. I will email you pictures. LOVE LOVE LOVE. ttfn. cheri. Your babygirl.
